Malaysian SENIOR SCIENTISTS ASSOCIATION
AIM AND OBJECTIVES
The aims and objectives of the
Association shall be:
I.
Organize get-togethers of senior professionals in
Sciences, Engineering and Technology;
II.
Hold regular dialogues to discuss current issues
of Science, Engineering and Technology, and express
independent opinion;
III.
Hold dialogues with relevant authorities to
express scientific opinion, including annual dialogue
with MOSTI and Akedemi Sains Malaysia;
IV.
Offer expertise of its members in advisory
capacities, including assessment/ evaluation of R & D
programmes;
V.
Offer the expertise of its members as consultants
to government and the private sector;
VI.
Participate in promotion of Science, Engineering
and Technology awareness and public engagement,
including as speakers;
VII.
Participate in Science, Engineering and
Technology Missions overseas with a view to promoting
the scientific image of Malaysia in the international
community;
VIII.
Attend Science, Engineering and Technology
conferences with a view to identify important
finding/resolutions and express opinion on these
findings/resolutions to the relevant authorities; as
well as monitor the outcome of such recommendations/
resolutions;
IX.
Create a database of scientific resources among
the senior professionals community;
X.
Establish Knowledge Networks to promote the
development of Science, Engineering and Technology and
its application, in the country;
XI.
Recommend appropriate recognitions for senior
professionals who have contributed to scientific
development and excellence and highlight the achievement
of Malaysian scientists to serve as role models for the
younger generation;
XII.
Do any other activity which will contribute to
Science, Engineering and Technology development in the
country;
XIII.
Establish an endowment fund or any other funds to
further the objects of the Association.
MEMBERSHIP
-
Membership shall be open to all senior professionals
in Science, Engineering and Technology who have
attained the age of 55 years. Senior Scientists
below the age of 55 years may be admitted in
exceptional cases at the discretion of the Executive
Committee.

Eligible persons wishing to join the Association
shall apply for membership on a form obtainable from
the Secretary.

Every application for membership except for founder
Members shall be proposed and seconded by members
and shall be forwarded to the Secretary who shall,
at the first convenient opportunity, submit it to
the Executive Committee for approval. The Committee
may at its discretion reject any application without
assigning any reason thereof.

Every applicant whose application has been approved
as afore said shall, upon payment of the prescribed
entrance fee, be admitted as a member of the
Association and shall be entitled to all the
privileges of membership.

The Executive Committee may withdraw membership of
the Association from a member if, in the opinion of
the Committee, such membership is not in the
interest of the Association.

Members of the Association shall be entitled to
attend meeting of the Association and to receive all
notices and publications issued, except those
pertaining to Executive Committee matters.
MEMBERSHIP FEE
1.
The membership fee shall be a one – time payment
of RM100 payable at the time of application. Where the
application is rejected, the fee shall be refunded to
the applicant.
2.
Special subscriptions or levies for particular
purposes may be raised from members by resolution of the
general meeting of the Association. If any member fails
to pay such subscription or levy within such period as
may be resolved, the member shall be denied the
privileges of membership until he settles his account.
